Bar 5 - Proud Partner
in the World's Largest Full Fleckvieh Genetics
Weekend! We are proud to be associated with the breeders of this weekend.
The Bar 5 SA "OF" --Original
Fleckvieh Genetic Program is really designed to bring to Canada from our "Bar 5 SA Stud", the
proven genetics that have established the breed in SA over the last 30 years.
We have worked with the Big Six breeders of South Africa - Ru-Dev, Mont-Beau,
Simlee, Congosim, Leeuport & Salerika & other significant breeders,
Ai-Ai, Locheim, Kykso - to build our pool
of "OF" in South Africa.
This is a complete
Breeding program, and we have dedicated a lot of financial resources to
establish a sound & defined direction using the "Genetic
Lines Idealisms" that have formed the very foundations of the "Original German
Fleckvieh" that
was established on the foundation of a Beef/Draught animal with a lot of
Milk. Many photos of the "OF" line bulls are on the South African web, www.simmentaler.org
We welcome Nancy
Kerr to the Bar 5 office, she started with us on Sept. 1, 2004 & has
quickly got our office back in order. Andreas is a hard fellow to get of
hold of, cell 519 270-3258, and I know many will appreciate a friendly
voice on the phone again at Bar 5. So, welcome Nancy. Any luck Andreas
will be here this weekend.
Please feel free to call
me, cell 519 374-1330 or Andreas cell 519 270-3258, for any information
or other regards.
Thanks for all
your support this past year, the future of Simmental Fleckvieh is bright & we look forward to visiting with you in Calgary & Red
Deer in December, a must attend for all serious Fullblood & Fleckvieh
breeders, as well as our valuable commercial producer customers.
Our advice?
Stay on the forefront of Maternal Efficiency & Power
with Flecks!! It won't be long until your banker asks for it! Loan is approved
if you have Fleck milk in the cows. Bank on it.

deep bodied Power Machine noticed by all who visited Bar 5 in the

deep bodied. He was picked out all year by everybody - we ran two
ads on him in the Country. His name has maybe changed from ad to
ad, but his genetic power has not !!!
Evan Blood

and want to up the power for one more generation, run him at your
H line stuff, Neff line stuff, BA stuff & the Seigfried's. Or
if you got a lot of maternal in your cows such as E line Antonius,

full brother to "Toverberg Erika" -- Who does not want a Bull as
a full brother to our SA DONOR ERIKA, walking in their pastures?
Only born
Oct. 9 and weighed almost 1400 on Oct. 7 - just where we think we
want to be at a year of age. At one year - 1400 pounds on a frame
6.5 to 7. Can he go to work - you bet !!! Packing 35 cm. at under
a year old, and loads of red meat on the ultrasound - means he is
a Balanced Breeding Package. Extremes can feel good but they hurt
too, so stay in the middle - is our philosophy. This will not hurt
you in any way.
He came
into the world unassisted at 95 lbs. and never looked back. Numbers,
pedigree depth, and loads of pigmentation all come in this package. Use
him on all to keep the progeny in the middle and right on target.
You want
to Circle 3 him - yes, we would. Bar 5 retains 100 doses of semen

KALGER
means calving ease, pigmentation and moderation. All the while not
taking away from muscle and milk. Balanced Breeding – Fleckvieh
!!!! One of the most productive cows in our SA donor herd is Erika,
who is a Kalger.
Minka – A proven producer and goes back to the Salerika Mia Cow
Family. M cow power has been famous for decades in South Africa so
he will leave you some excellent daughters. So much fun to be a Fleck
breeder !!!
The Sire -- the proven cow maker line of K Kater line Her sire is Kalger,
well known to us here from Kalgery – and in my opinion, K Kater
sire lines represent the balanced breeding aims we need in this breed.
She is mothered by generations of 3-Star cows, only the top 1% get
this, as a result is a maternal Powerhouse.
Look at
the REA in this guy – over 15 inches !!! Like a Charolais
with milk !! Use on your Angus, Black & Red Simmies, Hereford cows
to add milk, carcass and Rib Eye on a low frame – so less bone,
more red meat !!!

Sept. 2004 – and we will breed her back and wait awhile. The

Fleckvieh Genetic Lines into the percentage cattle, so be a leader,
go “Fleck -- Red/Black.”

Minka – A tank and a proven producer who was purchased in December 2001.
The top blood lines I found to be the top Cow Makers in SA, are the B Bison in
Benz, the K Kerl line in Ingo/Ibbie, the M Marbot in Embrio 3 and K Kater lines
in the Kalgers. Having said that, the Evan and Hadau/Haped cows are no sleuth’s
either !!!! The BA in Julius. And?? They are all good.
The Sire -- the proven pound maker line of P Pfalzer line!! The most used blood
in South Africa. The Majoor s we had last fall are all here, so it tells you
that they work. He may be the second youngest in our group but take him home
with confidence.
The Bar 5 guarantee backs him up – we are originally from Picture Butte,
so we are not that far out of touch. My cousin Larry, who runs Nolan Cattle Co.
down the road from Corn van Rey in the Butte, is on the Board of Bar 5 – so
he keeps us in line! |
THE FEMALES FOR FLECK SELECT 2004 !!! Well, we have
brought out a strong group of females that represent our breeding program.
Genetic Lines. Cow Families. Genetic Power. Seed Stock Production -- from our
farm in South Africa to here in Canada; Bar 5 is proud to be in Wild Rose Country & part
of this great weekend.

Caracass
Female here - 186 lbs. per frame unit & 1.15 REA per 100 lbs.
of weight. She screams to be mated to H Horex line. I suggest Hero.
May not get tall, but will your foot when standing on it.
The deep bodied Power machine noticed by all who visited Bar 5 in the
last 6 months !!! Double bred Evan power and muscle. Deep red. Double
deep bodied.
Evan
Blood X Erika = Where you want to be !!! If you are a Full Fleck
breeder and want impress your cowboy customers take home a 5.2
frame – the easy keeping kind.
Remember
Signal, Abricot & Achilles? They were not easy keepers. So,
the Flecks & Angus took over. Give them the easy keepers they
want, with a lot more milk !!!
Good
footed, and just the right kind !!

her for $22,000 to Paulo Marques in April 2003, and then canceled the deal
as the May 20 – hit us all. They are back buying cattrle and we are
happy we got 804L – a Tank and the Reserve People’s Choice
at the Royal in 2002.
415L – another King of pigmentation & Sire Line Genetics the
best of SA, B Line Bison. Not available in Germany anymore.
Dam is a Siska X Hano, the 804L cow – who was the Royal’s 2002

also, so you could appreciate the one’s bred in Canada by Bar 5;
not just the matings from Bar 5 SA.

Give
her time – she will make a great cow – Gist bought a full
sister in Oct. at the FSFF Showcase, so you know the genetics are there.
Ibbie X Lana – Rare stuff, maybe not even available in SA!! She
is deep, smooth, double goggled and deep sided. She carries pigmentation
all over and is dark hooved.
Lana – yes, the L cow wave is here. Lana is in calf & will come
back into the flush program, we have some calves from fall 2003 & spring
2004, but not many. Her photo shows her to be what she is, balanced & feminine.
The Sire -- the proven Cow maker line of K Kerl line “Ibbie” blood,
she is destined to be a Donor Cow. Ibbie is mothered by three generations
of 3 Star cows, only the top 1% get this, and top of South Africa for three
generations?? As a result is a maternal Powerhouse !!! We love him. He
seems to have been forgotten in SA, not here at Bar 5 SA. Number 3-Ibbie & 5-Ingo
ever used in SA; father & son? Gotta be good !!!! |
