The
herd of cows on Sept. 10, all aredue and are calving
unassisted 10
kms. from home on the Pasture Farm.

The
working corrals, including a set of birth scales, used to
weigh every
calf born on the pasture farm. Not as high tech as
the calving barn, but the
protective pen here, keeps mom outside, as the calf
is held in the calfbox -
to be weighed, tagged, and needled. We even got wheels
for this one to pull
it behind the ATV if we have to go catch the calf !!!

Not
even aday old calf, a full South, jogging in front of mom
- belly full
and about to cross the scale and get three holes in
his ear.

The

water is
avaialble in two bunk water troughs. The working corrals
are in the
background.

The
cowherd in the centre corral with the two water bunks,
and an empty
hay feeder. We call it the pasture farm, so they get
pasture until the snow
flies !!.
