> Jan. 17, 2006 – A long planned trip to LCoC, Leachman Cattle of Colorado was finally realized !! And I was shocked by the quality of the Donor females – the Angus & Red Angus programs at LCoC are a mile high deep in quality !!! The AN Donors are incredible. Over 800 bulls on test and thousands of females, make this a must stop in Colorado, just an hour north of Denver. Lee is an encyclopedia of knowledge, and enthusiasm; and man, he reminds us of Brian Mackenzie of Brylor Red Angus of Alberta when they start shooting off pedigrees!!

Anyway, We have invited Lee to speak at the Bar 5 Spring Sale in April 2006 & Brian Mac is planning on being here as well, so Red Angus enthusiasts, get ready to fasten your seat belts - the top dogs will be here.

The moderation, the beef and the direction of LCoC program is where we are in our Breeding & Production Program, so we will be working with Lee in the future on some projects.

Angus – we had been following the LCoC program since it’s re-start in Colorado in Jan. 2004, after the Montana Dispersal. In the Fall of 2003, we added the LCoC bull, Few $s More for the injection of two of the lead AN bulls in the USA ( Future Direction & 1407 ) & great ultrasound data into our Angus and FX1 programs. Imagine some GLM ( Genetic Line Matching ) with Few $ More and our SA powerlines !!! We got the marbling to match the AN genes and the yield to go with it……the Eileen cow of Prime Time gave us 19 embryos from Few $ More due Spring 2006!!! And the first calves have hit the ground & look sharp.

The AN Donors of LCoC are awesome & we have selected several for future embryo projects in the future.

Red Angus – A Full brother to Major League !! and many more great looking calves for the March 2006 LCoC Bull Sale. We of course cut our Red Angus teeth at the 2002 LCC Spring Sale of Montana with the purchase of LCC Saskatoon 777L & some AR Donors. The AR Donors were impressive and the son of Romeo, Biber Romero has been added to the Circle 3 lineup, as he is our kind of shape and frame.

Stabilizers ( Hybrids & Composites ) – The bull pens are full of LCoC Composites that look the part, super hips and depth. These have been a mainstay in the USA meat production industry for many years, and the consistency of these calves are amazing.

Thanks to Lee for his time and congratulations on a great program.

Linked by their relentless pursuit of the most profitable genetics available, Bar 5 and Leachman have formed a relationship to bring you top genetics in Fleckvieh, Angus, Red Angus, and Composite bloodlines. No two breeders have farther global reach, or more experience traveling the globe in search of the right Genetic lines & Cow Families.

Bar 5 markets South African Fleckvieh in various sales throughout North America & Brazil each year, from it’s operations as the leading Fleckvieh breeding herd in South Africa, and the main breeding cowherd of Fleckvieh, Red Angus & Angus breeding stock at the headquarters in Canada. Leachman genetics flow around the world in breeding programs in Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, Columbia, Venezuela, Brazil, Uruguay, Paraguay, and Argentina. The “Leachman” name, “Hairpin” brand, and website www.leachman.com is a family multi-generation icon; which was recently purchased by third generation cattlemen Lee Leachman & his partner, Dallas Horton of Wellington, Colorado. The Leachman name is recognized as The Pioneer name in “ Designed Crossbreeding Systems.” Leachman developed the Stabilizer Composite that has since been copied by cattlemen around the world. Leachman also helped design the Santa Cruz at King Ranch, the Montana in Brazil, and the Ranquel program in Argentina.
