First in class, Top Meadow Heifer Show. Second
in class to the Heifer Calf Champion, NABC 2004
Our pick of the North American Beef Congress heifer pens, a Black
Angus !!! I looked the offering over and fell in love with this
sweet heart.
She
weighed 918 lbs., her dam is a heavy milker, a YW epd of 86,
TM of 41, & 18 for milk. Highest EPD's in the entire
Angus offering.
Her
sire, Yellowstone, is the rage of Angus business - power,
muscle and milk. Yellowstone 's Sire is the Semex owned, Dateline
7078 the sire that is rocking the Angus world.
The
dam, from the
Connie/Black Beauty Cow family, is the heaviest milker in
a herd of cows owned by a vet, who is a good friend of our
vet. Who gave us the inside scoop of the herd, good old working
cattle with some size - The Bar 5 Kind !!!!!!!
Mother
Carla & I attended the sale and plucked this calf her
out for less than the sale average !!!! Highest EPD animal in the
sale, and an uncle topped the sale at $16,000 , a Dateline son
we chased up to $12,000 for the commercial cows. Semex Beef bought
him, and our good friend & partner in Mercedes, Dennis
Ericson, alias Bigfoot.
Anyway,
we will flush her AN once & then to a SA bull - 415L,
then put her in calf in the fall of 2005. Dennis E, Bigfoot to
make the AN mating.
