The
Origin of a Genetic Line is generally listed in four
eras;
1. Original - 1874 to 1939 in
Switzerland,
2. The Fleckvieh Establishment
years of 1940 to 1959,
3. Fleckvieh Beef era of 1960
until 1975, &
4.
Modern era of 1976 until today.

After 1975, the breed went towards a Dual Purpose strategy
in Europe, and an upgrading percentage era in North America.
This is referred to as the Modern era. The
lines are listed as per the Textbooks of Germany & Austria;
only the B Benz & H Horex lines have been altered
by Bar 5. “B” Burgl into Bison & Bayer
gong back to the 1943 Benz origin, and H into two distinct
lines of 1. the Austrian H Hero line & the 2. German
H Honig line.
“Beef Fleckvieh” were
bred in Germany and Austria between 1940 to 1975.
The Fleckvieh breed was established in Germany in
1940 as a Beef strain of the dual purpose “Simmentaler Fleckvieh” bred
up with these dual purpose cattle of Switzerland & the
native ‘Yuri” German cattle during the 1910’s,
1920’s & 1930’s.
