Welcome to Bar 5 Stock Farms Ltd.

Bar 5 was established in 1969, by a group of 5 Manitoba ranchers of Shorthorn & Hereford cattle, Bar 5 imported more than 100 Simmental breeding females from Europe during the 1970's and developed a cross breeding program to upgrade from British based cows to 7/8 or more Simmental Breeding stock. In 1978, Bar 5 sold off most of the percentage cattle and focused on the Fullblood Simmental herd until 2002. In 2002, Bar 5 moved to introduce a Designed Maternal Crossbreeding system and started production of full blood Fleckvieh cattle in Sough Africa in partnership with Toverberg Simmentals in Colesberge. The Fleckvieh fullbloods of Sough Africa originated from Germany and Austria many years ago and the breeders of South Africa have bred them to be high producing beef cattle. Embryos are produced in Sough Africa imported into Canada and transplanted at the North American Bar 5 facility. The offspring are sold into North and South America to add different genetics into the gene pool but also to add the many years of breeding experience of South Africa into the Simmental program of these areas.

We also offer our customers 5 different bull options. Bar 5 cattle are walking the fields in many countries of the world including U.S.A., Brazil, Costa Rica, Mexico, Chile, Nicaragua, Columbia, South Africa, China, Korea, Pakistan, Australia, and New Zealand.
